Manuel joined the Fazal lab in August 2023 as a research technician. He is working on establishing cancer models using the cell lines MDA-MB-231 to investigate RNA localization.

He recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. During his time in college, he was an intern in Dr. Chun Xuโ€™s lab for two years performing APOE E gene identification for Alzheimer's Disease using whole exome sequencing and studying the Interactions of lifestyle and genomics impact on human longevity and age-related disorders (such as dementia).

In his spare time, he loves to run, exercise, play musical instruments (guitar, piano, drums, and ukulele), and watch movies/series. He is preparing to apply for a PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine!
