Staci Hammer

Postdoctoral fellow

Staci joined the Fazal lab in July of 2024 as a postdoctoral fellow. She is working on understanding how RNA modifications affect subcellular RNA localization.

Staci earned her PhD in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University in College Station in December of 2023. There she studied the impact of translationally controlled enzymes on cell cycle progression in S. cerevisiae and how folate limitation affects healthspan in aging C57BL6/J mice. She joined the Fazal lab to gain experience with mammalian cell culture and to transition into research that relates to the molecular understanding of cancer and diseases.

Outside of the lab, Staci enjoys running, lifting weights, watching NFL games, reading nonfiction books, and spending time with her cat, O’Malley.
